General files (A10-A) contents
Abstract
The General Files of Student Activities is organized as a record sub-group within the larger Student Activities record group. The materials date back to the establishment of the college and include a broad range of materials reflective of student life and campus culture. Of special interest are the materials on KUMM, the student-operated radio station, contained in Box 1. The Morris Campus Union minutes and miscellaneous papers are filed in the same box. Records from the Student Services Committee materials are contained in Box 2. Morris Campus Student Association (MCSA) election results can be found in Box 3. Boxes 4 and 5 hold records relevant to the construction of the Student Center, and these, in turn, have to do with fund-raising, artwork, room naming, the Center's dedication, etc.
Also of note are records from the "Student Affairs Committee" and the Morris Campus Union Board (MCUB); these materials reflect club life and campus cultural life in the 1960s and 1970s (Boxes 8 through 11).
Box 11 also holds a file of pamphlets and brochures including a 1962 Student Handbook. Of further interest is the file of materials--again pamphlets and brochures--from the Performing Arts Committee (PAC) for the 1970s and 1980s. The file labled "Policies--Alcohol, Pre '94" in Box 12 is also worth noting. Of related interest here is the file, "Student Activities--Flatlands," which documents the demise of this short-lived annual event (Box 13). In the same box is a file, "Policy--Campus Demonstrations" form the 1968-69. Box 14 contains audio and video tapes of convocations mostly from 1990s and early 2000s and a number of files from late 1980s and early 1990s on First Year Experience Committee (FYE Committee) and orientation. Finally, Box 15 contains files on Saddle Club from 1971-72 through the 1990s.
