Abstract

Minnesota has often been referred to as "The State of the Arts. " Not only do the arts enhance the quality of our lives, they are a major economic force in the state. But what is the current state of the arts in Minnesota? Those involved in the business of managing our state's artistic resources are concerned with current philanthropic trends in the public and private sectors. This article reports on the state of the arts in Minnesota in 1991. It reviews the history of Minnesota arts funding, evaluates the current status of funding for Minnesota arts, and looks ahead to the future.
